Augustin Purnus (Technical University of Bucharest, Romania)

Augustin PurnusAugustin Purnus PhD is Associate Professor of Construction Management at the Technical University of Civil Engineering, Bucharest, in Construction Management Department. He received his PhD in Hydraulic Structures in 1996 at the Technical University of Civil Engineering, Bucharest. Mr. Purnus is the promoter, founder and past president of PMI Romania Chapter. With an experience of almost 30 years gained in various type of projects as designer, construction manager, project manager and consultant in project management, Dr. Purnus holds a Project Manager Professional (PMI) certification. He published as author and co-author of 8 books and more than 100 publications in refereed journals and conferences. His research areas are scheduling, resource optimization, cost engineering, project and portfolio risk management in the field of project management.

 

Yiannis Xenidis (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece

xenidisDr. Yiannis Xenidis received at 2006 his PhD from the department of Civil Engineering in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) wherefrom he had, previously, graduated at 1998. His doctoral thesis was on: “Risk Analysis of BOT projects with the Use of Fuzzy Logic”.

He has taught at the department of Spatial Planning and Development in AUTH during 2005 – 2008, while, currently, he is a faculty member (Assistant Professor) at the department of Civil Engineering in AUTH and he is a tutor/advisor at the school of Science and Technology in the Hellenic Open University. He is the author of several peer reviewed papers in scientific journals and conferences and he has contributed, upon invitation, with book chapters to several publications. He has participated as member of the scientific committee and session chair at several scientific conferences and he is a reviewer at several scientific journals and conferences. He is a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI), the Society of Risk Analysis (SRA), the International Association for Life-Cycle Civil Engineering (iaLcce) and the World Scientific and Engineering Academy and Society (WSEAS).

His research interests and teaching activities include: Resilient Systems, Risk Analysis and Decision-Making Theory, Infrastructure Investments and Development, Cost and Schedule Management in Civil Engineering Works, Project Management, Construction Management, and Human Resources Management.

 

Igal Shohet (Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel)

Igal Shohet - Bio - January 2014The research activities of Prof. Igal Shohet (b. 1959) cover a broad range of topics including Extreme Events Engineering and Management, Critical Facilities Maintenance and Management, Construction Methods and Management, and Automation in Construction. After studying a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering focus on Structural and geotechnical Engineering, Professor Shohet carried out his M.Sc. in Construction Management, and D.Sc. in Civil Engineering on Robotics in Construction. All degrees were at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. Prior to Joining Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in 2004, Professor Shohet served as a Faculty member at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Technion – I.I.T. for 8 years, during this period he was visiting professor at Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of New Mexico. In 2004 Professor Shohet joined the founders of the Department of Structural Engineering at Ben-Gurion University; he is the head of the Construction Management Program since its establishment and the Deputy-Chair of the Department since 2005. Prof. Shohet is an editorial board member of several Journals in Construction and Facilities Management; he is an advisor to the Israeli Ministries of Interior and Economy.

Professor Shohet Facilities Management models are widely implemented in Healthcare and other critical Infrastructures in Israel and abroad. Prof. Shohet published more than 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. His present research is carried out in Risk Management and Extreme Events Engineering and Management in Critical Infrastructures.

 

Levente Mályusz (Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Hungary)

MalyuszLevente Mályusz received his PhD degree in construction management in 1998 at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He has been head of Department of Construction Technology and Management at Budapest University of Technology and Economics since 2009. His research focuses on scheduling, construction management, learning curves. He is a Member of Hungarian Association of Operations Research and Member of Hungarian Chamber of Engineers. He got Gyula Farkas Memorial Prize in 1999 for application of operation research in practice.

 

Alfredo Serpell (Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, Chile)

Foto ASB reducida_Alfredo_SerpellProf. Alfredo Serpell is a Professor of Construction Management at the Department of Construction Engineering and Management of the School of Engineering of the Catholic University of Chile. He holds a Civil Engineer degree from the Catholic University of Chile and a M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, USA. He is very active in research on knowledge management, construction quality and productivity, construction business management, construction innovation and entrepreneurship, risk management, and project management. He teaches classes both at graduate and undergraduate levels. Professor Serpell is an active member of the Project Management Institute, the American Society for Quality and the AACE International, and the President of the Chilean Corporation of Project Management, a Member Association of the International Project Management Association.
